News, etc:

  • re-openings (update, 16 Sept): as churches re-open, we will report details on our "church online" page.
    • First to re-open was Gloucester church in late June
    • Kars, Vernon & and St. Giles re-opened on August 2nd
    • Knox (Lisgar St.) re-opened on August 16
    • St. Tim's and St. Andrew's Richmond re-opened on September 6
    • Trinity re-opened on September 13
    • St. Andrew's Aylmer held an outdoor service September 13 and plan to resume worshipping in the sanctuary September 20
    • Parkwood and Grace Orleans plan to re-open on October 11

  • At it's regular meeting held Sept. 15 the names of Blair Bertrand and In Seob Wan were added to the roll and Heather Paton to the appendix to the roll. Welcome, all!

  • The latest (September) newsletter of our Ministry Animator, Cheryl Gaver, is now available. Follow the link above.

  • Synod 2020 will happen online Fri. Oct. 16 & Sat. Oct. 17 rather than in-person; a conference was due to happen this year will be postponed. Official news to come.

  • At it's June meeting Presbytery approved the extension of Dan Chook Ried's contract as regular supply at St. Giles church to the end of August.

  • Gracefield welcomes a new Managing Director, Mark Hamilton, who took up his duties on June 1st. Welcome Mark! Read more about Mark here.

  • The June Presbytery meeting will be held online via Zoom Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 7 p.m. (not 5:00 p.m.)

  • In an email from Gracefield Camp dated May 25th, it was announced that they will not be operating a children's residential camp this summer. Read the full announcement here. An update was published May 30th re: camp opening and work weekends, here.

  • COVID-19 During the COVID-19 pandemic, all churches in the Presbytery are following government and health authority guidelines and have ceased holding worship services in their buildings. A number of churches are "doing worship" online - see our "church online" page - or follow the new link in the menubar at the top of the page.

  • The clerk of Presbytery has received notice of the cancellation of three national events: the Women's Gathering (see announcement), CY2020 (see announcement) and the 2020 General Assembly (see announcement).

  • At the special meeting on Remits B & C held Tuesday February 18, 2020 presbyters present voted to approve Remit B (22 approve/12 disapprove) and to disapprove Remit C (17 disapprove, 16 approve, 1 abstention). The text of the remits is available here. Participating in the discussion and vote were the newly-inducted minister of Westminster church, Chris Clarke and a new equalizing elder from St. Paul's church.

  • The 2019 ACTS & Proceedings and the Book of Forms are available for purchase and (free) download from presbyterian.ca here.

  • New logo... In April 2018 the national church released a "refreshed" burning bush logo, seen above. More info on the PCC website here, including downloads.

  • Presbytery QR codes, including background info, a QR code for the Presbytery of Ottawa, one for Presbytery Youth and a link to a QR code generator.
