Terms and Conditions of Use

PCC Forum is part of the Presbyterian Church’s online community. It is a place where Presbyterians gather to share news, perspectives and ideas. We are a church community and we will behave as such when we are engaged in discussions. We are always mindful that our words and our actions are being viewed by thousands of people daily, not all of them Presbyterians and not all of them Christians.

Participants in PCC Forum must be registered in order to take part in the various discussion forums. Registration is just required once and it is free!

PCC Forum is a window into the soul and spirit of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. Opinions expressed in this forum, however, are individual opinions and do not necessarily reflect decisions made by General Assembly nor of the other courts of the church.

Every community has a set of rules and policies, most of them unwritten. Our Code of Conduct is written. If you agree to the terms, please check the 'I agree' checkbox and press the 'Register' button below. If you would like to cancel the registration, use your browser's 'Back' button or the navigation menu to leave this page.

PCC Forum has an Administrator and a number of Moderators who oversee the content of various discussion forums. These people have both the privilege and the authority to ensure that discussions are civil, the language that is being used is similar to that found in a church’s fellowship hall, and that individual opinions are respected and valued. The Administrator and Moderators have the authority to delete discussions and to ban registrants whose conduct is contrary to this Code of Conduct.

PCC Forum consists of a number of discussion forums based on themes. These themes represent the broadest of interests of the denomination and are designed to provide sufficient latitude to engage in a wide range of topics.

It is not the Administration's or Moderator's job to resolve disputes between individuals. No favoritism will be shown towards a particular member in a debate. In a discussion atmosphere it is inevitable that people will become upset over beliefs or philosophies. A modicum of heated debate is expected and will be tolerated. If your behavior disrupts the basic purpose of PCC Forum, you will be banned. In most cases we can offer a notice before being forced to do so, but that may not always be true.

Considering the real-time nature of PCC Forum, it is impossible to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we cannot actively monitor the contents of all posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.

The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of PCC Forum or The Presbyterian Church in Canada. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact the Administrator or the Moderator immediately by e-mail. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if it is determined that removal is necessary.

You agree, through your use of PCC Forum, that you will not post any material which is in violation of any existing and applicable laws. Offensive material will not be tolerated. Posting pornography, blatant racism, anything deemed offensive or inflammatory in your signature, offensive photographs or graphics or anything illegal will be cause for immediate banning. Keep in mind that, although we believe in freedom of speech, most adhere to basic beliefs such as family, God and a high degree of morality. If you knowingly or unknowingly post material that is offensive to Presbyterians in general, or to a fundamental tenet of the general belief structure, that material will be subject to immediate deletion or editing, with or without notice. Depending on the material itself, and the perceived nature of its message, implicit or implied, that material may also get you banned. Mere references to the above subjects are fine for purposes of debate, pro or con, but the context of those references may be scrutinized for adherence to this policy.

Use of foul language is forbidden. Language or other material that goes beyond the bounds of good taste may be edited or deleted at the sole discretion of the Administrator or Moderators. Please note that chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on PCC Forum.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this Forum to post any material which is in violation of any existing and applicable copyright laws. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by PCC Forum, or you have permission from the author. When posting articles, you must provide a link back to the original article or clearly define a searchable source.

Moderators: Moderators exist to help keep their assigned forum as active as possible. Moderators have the power to edit posts, delete posts or move threads. The main purpose of a Moderator is to insert fresh topics, reply to existing topics, help steer the general content towards a healthy learning experience and to keep the Administrator aware of any problems. Moderators also contribute heavily to improvements and suggestions regarding the forums. We value our Moderators highly, and could not do our job without them. Please treat them with respect.

E-Mail Addresses: You must provide a valid e-mail address for registration as a member, but your profile can be set to hide the address. We do not divulge hidden e-mail addresses to other parties except for the legal reasons, nor do we allow their use for advertisement purposes. In other words, you will never receive spam as a result of registering here. We allow the usage of free e-mail service addresses for registration, such as Hotmail or Yahoo, as long as the address is valid, and remains so. If it is discovered that you have provided an invalid or unmonitored address, or have altered your profile to include an invalid or unmonitored address, your account will be suspended until your address can be corrected.
