TUESDAY, MAY 1
As new life begins to bloom with the
coming of spring, pray that those who grieve
will feel their sorrow lifted and experience
new hope.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 2
Pray for candidates for ministry and guidance
counsellors who will spend time engaged in
dialogue about calling and discernment during
the Guidance Conference at Crieff Hills
Community.
THURSDAY, MAY 3
Pray for child workers and street children in
Nicaragua, as Presbyterian World Service &
Development partners help them to find hope
and healing, to learn about their rights and to
grow into healthy adults.

FRIDAY, MAY 4
Pray for the Council of the Women’s
Missionary Society as it meets to learn, to
share and to conduct business that affects the
whole Society.

SATURDAY, MAY 5
Pray for the celebration of the 10th
anniversary of the Knox Laity Program.

SUNDAY, MAY 6
Give thanks for the gifts Asian culture and
heritage bring to Canada and to the church.

MONDAY, MAY 7
Pray for the Ecumenical Working Group on
Residential Schools as it seeks a path of
healing and reconciliation with Inuit, Métis
and First Nations partners.

TUESDAY, MAY 8
Pray for Denise Van Wissen who works as a
nutritionist for SOYNICA in Nicaragua.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 9
Pray for The Rev. Giancarlo Fantechi and
people at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in
Sherbrooke, Quebec.

THURSDAY, MAY 10
Pray for the executive committee of the World
Communion of Reformed Churches, and for
The Rev. Mary Fontaine, The Presbyterian
Church in Canada committee member, as they
meet in Sumatra, Indonesia, seeking to
promote justice and unity within the Reformed
family.

FRIDAY, MAY 11
Pray for Youth in Mission participants and
leaders as they prepare for a busy summer
of mission trips nationally and
internationally.

SATURDAY, MAY 12
Pray for mission staff Louise Gamble, an
English teacher at Tam Kang High School in
Taiwan.

SUNDAY, MAY 13
Christian Family Sunday
Pray that families will respect the dignity,
integrity and uniqueness of every family
member – each one made in Christ’s image.

MONDAY, MAY 14
Pray for families who are supported by St.
David’s Inner City Outreach Ministry in
Hamilton, Ontario.

TUESDAY, MAY 15
Pray for marginalized people living in
Guatemala, that they may overcome
malnutrition with help from projects
supported by Presbyterian World Service &
Development.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 16
Pray for local Women’s Missionary Society
groups as they wind down their program
year. May they continue to be a striving
force for mission education in their
congregations.

THURSDAY, MAY 17
Ascension Day
Pray for those suffering harassment of any
type, whether bullying at school or abusive
behavior at work or at home. May our
congregations work to end all forms of
discrimination, in the spirit and example of
Jesus Christ.

FRIDAY, MAY 18
Pray for Captain David Stewart who serves
as a military chaplain at Canadian Forces
Base Edmonton, and for his ministry with
those under his care.

SATURDAY, MAY 19
Pray for the Burnaby Taiwanese
congregation in Burnaby, British Columbia,
during its time of vacancy.

SUNDAY, MAY 20
Healing and Reconciliation Sunday
Give thanks for local leaders in The
Presbyterian Church in Canada who are
working in their communities to build
relationships between Aboriginal and non-
Aboriginal people based on mutual respect
and love of neighbour.

MONDAY, MAY 21
Victoria Day
Pray for all in our churches who are making
decisions, with God's guidance, regarding
future schooling and summer jobs.

TUESDAY, MAY 22
Pray for The Rev. Jim Young and his wife,
Ann, as they conclude their service with
International Ministries in Grenada.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 23
Pray for university graduates as they turn a
new chapter in their lives and seek ways to
be productive members of society.

THURSDAY, MAY 24
Pray for discernment for congregational
search committees as they seek ministers
for their congregations.

FRIDAY, MAY 25
Pray for those working to change unjust
systems and for the victims caught in them.

SATURDAY, MAY 26
National Day of Healing and Reconciliation
Pray for the participants of “Crossing
Cultures Together VIII” as they meet at
Knox College in Toronto to share stories
about the gifts and challenges of being multicultural
communities and to build a more
inclusive church.

SUNDAY, MAY 27
Pentecost
Pray that there will be a movement of the
Holy Spirit within our churches so that
peace and justice will flourish.

MONDAY, MAY 28
Pray for rural and remote congregations as
they seek to be faithful communities in
sometimes challenging circumstances.

TUESDAY, MAY 29
Pray for the young people who have applied
to the mission track of Canada Youth 2012
this summer, that they will be inspired to
share God’s love and compassion with
others.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 30
Pray for poor and vulnerable youth who are
learning new skills in nursing, teaching and auto
mechanics at a community college in India
supported by Presbyterian World Service &
Development.

THURSDAY, MAY 31
Give thanks for the warmer weather of
summer and the promise of vacations
ahead.
