THURSDAY, APRIL 1
~ Maundy Thursday ~ Pray for our church as we enter the last days of Holy Week and share the bread and wine together.
FRIDAY, APRIL 2
~ Good Friday ~ Give thanks for Jesus Christ who was willing to be betrayed, given over and suffer death upon a cross for us all.
SATURDAY, APRIL 3
Pray that we might have the compassion, the insight, and the determination to do what we can for the victims of human trafficking.
SUNDAY, APRIL 4
~ Easter Sunday ~ He is risen, he is risen indeed! Give thanks to God for the resurrection of His son. Pray that we might shine as lights in the world reflecting the Messiah’s resurrection.
MONDAY, APRIL 5
~ Easter Monday ~ Pray for Margaret Evans, short term missionary in Kenya, as she adjusts to her new surroundings and her work with rural youth in Nyeri.
TUESDAY, APRIL 6
Pray for Presbyterian World Service & Development’s Prevention of Mother-to- Child Transmission program in Malawi, helping pregnant mothers and their newborns access medicine and nutritional supplements. May this help to reduce the spread of AIDS and provide babies with a healthy start in life.
WEDNESDAY , APRIL 7
Pray for soldiers, sailors, and air personnel who are just starting their tours of duty in Afghanistan. Pray for their protection and for their families, that they will be able to manage the many challenges they face in the next six to nine months.
THURSDAY, APRIL 8
Give thanks for spring as we enjoy warmer weather and longer days after the long winter.
FRIDAY, APRIL 9
Pray for university students who need to find employment for the summer months.
SATURDAY, APRIL 10
Pray for recognition for women across Canada and throughout the world. May God give us the insight to acknowledge their accomplishments.
SUNDAY, APRIL 11
Give thanks for the churches and presbyteries that give faithfully to Presbyterian Sharing.
MONDAY, APRIL 12
Pray for our chaplains who are serving in Afghanistan, and for chaplains here in Canada who minister to the families of those who have been deployed.
TUESDAY, APRIL 13
Pray for peace, tolerance and love throughout the world.
WEDNESDAY , APRIL 14
Pray for Presbyterian World Service & Development partners as they work to provide assistance and emotional counselling to people around the world who have lost their homes, family members and livelihoods due to disaster or conflict.
THURSDAY, APRIL 15
Pray for those who are exposed to peer pressure, that they might have the courage to make wise choices and to speak up for themselves.
FRIDAY, APRIL 16
Give thanks for the leadership and commitment of the clerks of synods and presbyteries and pray for them as they gather to participate in the biennial Clerks Consultation this week.
SATURDAY, APRIL 17
Give thanks for spring blossoms and the reminder they bring of new life and the promise of growth.
SUNDAY, APRIL 18
Pray for Xiping Jin and Yanling Meng, students from Nanjing Seminary in China who are undertaking doctoral studies in Canada.
MONDAY, APRIL 19
Pray for those who are dealing with the aftermath of January’s earthquake in Haiti.
TUESDAY, APRIL 20
Pray for Jeanie Lee at Knox Presbyterian Church in Neepawa, Manitoba as she ministers to the new members of the Korean community in this prairie town.
WEDNESDAY , APRIL 21
Pray for strength for those who believe, hope for those who doubt, and faith for those who have not seen.
THURSDAY, APRIL 22
~ Earth Day ~ Thank God for the diversity and abundance of creation. Pray for guidance on how best to honour God as Creator.
FRIDAY, APRIL 23
Pray for Susan Moore, who serves as the convener of the Ministry and Pastoral Care Committee of the Presbytery of Huron Perth.
SATURDAY, APRIL 24
Pray for Presbyterian World Service & Development partners as they work to provide assistance and counselling to people around the world who have lost their homes, family members and livelihoods due to disaster or conflict.
SUNDAY, APRIL 25
~ Mission Awareness Sunday ~ Pray for the members of the Atlantic Mission Society and the Women's Missionary Society as they prepare and encourage worship leaders for Mission Awareness Sunday services.
MONDAY, APRIL 26
Pray for candidates for ministry and for the counsellors who will spend time engaged in dialogue about calling and discernment during the Guidance Conference held at Crieff Hills, Ontario this week.
TUESDAY, APRIL 27
Pray for Jim and Ann Young, who are working as missionaries and sharing their many gifts in Grenada among the Belair Presbyterian Church community in St. Patrick.
WEDNESDAY , APRIL 28
Pray for Laura Ashfield as she completes her internship with Project Ploughshares in Waterloo, Ontario. Laura is the second intern in a three year partnership between The Presbyterian Church in Canada and Project Ploughshares.
THURSDAY, APRIL 29
As participants gather for the Emmaus Project from April 29 to May 2, pray for discerning renewal for presbyteries and congregations of our church, and give thanks for the leadership of Bill Essum, Diana Butler Bass and Don Posterski.
FRIDAY, APRIL 30
Pray that clergy will be called to ministry in the Canadian Forces.
