FRIDAY, JANUARY 1
New Year’s Day
As we begin this new year, pray that we will have the will and the wisdom to respond to the needs of our global partners in mission.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 2
Pray for the many Canadian women who live in poverty after they retire.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 3
Epiphany Sunday
Pray for children. May their earliest experiences teach them that the world around them is good, and that they are worthy of being loved.
MONDAY, JANUARY 4
Give thanks for those in your congregation who offer the gift of friendship to members who are no longer able to attend church regularly.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 5
Pray for military personnel and their families who are faced with the challenge of recovering from severe wounds or disabilities.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6
Epiphany
Pray that all God's people will be encouraged and equipped to shine the light of Christ to the nations, beginning with their own corner of the world.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 7
Pray for David and Anna Pandy-Szekeres and their three children as they work and share their gifts in the Ukraine.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 8
Pray for refugees who are beginning new lives in Canada, thanks to sponsorship by Canadian congregations and the work of Presbyterian World Service & Development.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 9
Pray for the Emmaus Project planning team as they organize this special event at the end of May. Pray for the presbyteries selected to attend it.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 10
Baptism of the Lord
Pray that our Churches, as they discern God’s will for their congregations, will strengthen their role as servants to others in their own communities and around the world.
MONDAY, JANUARY 11
Give thanks for those who work in food banks, shelters and out-of-the-cold programs. Pray for your provincial government and the members of the public service who develop poverty reduction strategies. May all people be able to live with dignity.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 12
Pray for congregations as they prepare, hold and follow up on their annual meetings. May this be a time of celebration and anticipation for the year ahead.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13
Pray for the work of Glenn and Linda Inglis with The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in Malawi.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 14
Pray for members of the International Affairs Committee as they meet in Toronto, Ontario.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 15
Pray for those who are going through the process of trying to adopt a child.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 16
Pray for military families who moved last summer, that their children will settle happily into their schools and find new friends.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 17
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins
Pray that we will be comfortable with sharing the story of our Christian faith with others.
MONDAY, JANUARY 18
Pray for those in Canadian diplomatic posts abroad who must make life and death decisions about those who have asked to immigrate to Canada.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 19
Pray for the Rev. Mark McLennan who serves as the convener of the Ministry and Church Vocations Committee of the Presbytery of Paris.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20
Pray for patients in intensive care units, for their families, and for those who provide care for them.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 21
Pray for PWS&D and our program partners, that they may continue to defend human rights, uphold the dignity of all people, and work for a world without poverty.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 22
Pray that people in remote regions of Tanzania will gain access to clean water and learn about proper sanitation through projects supported by PWS&D.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 23
Give thanks for the congregational committee members and sessions who serve our churches faithfully, contributing their time and abundant talents.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 24
Pray for Euan Strachan, who serves as the convener of the Colleges Committee of the Presbytery of New Brunswick.
MONDAY, JANUARY 25
Pray for congregations in the Presbytery of Lindsay-Peterborough that are adding to their facilities in order to provide new opportunities for ministry. Pray also for congregations that are considering amalgamation.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 26
Pray for victims of the Holocaust and all other acts of genocide. Pray that we will never forget. May we be determined to live our lives free of prejudice of all kinds.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27
Give thanks for those who provide the music and poetry that enriches our worship.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 28
Pray for Louise Gamble and give thanks for her dedication in teaching religious education in English to high school students in Taiwan.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 29
Pray for Henry Hildebrandt and everyone at Anamiewigummig (Kenora Fellowship Centre) in Kenora, Ontario, as they deliberate on the future direction for their mission.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 30
Pray for interim moderators and search committees, that God may guide them to fulfill their responsibilities with diligence, wisdom and faithfulness.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 31
Pray that the people of Guatemala might overcome malnutrition with help from agricultural projects that are supported by Presbyterian World Service & Development.
