Making Connections: Staying Rooted in an Uprooted World -- A refugee mission study
The Bible is full of stories about people on the move, both by choice and without choice. This refugee mission study looks at what Scripture has to say about people who are unjustly uprooted and at the current reality many people face today. Using real life stories* from refugee ministries supported by The Presbyterian Church in Canada, participants will explore God’s call to both welcome the stranger and address the underlying causes that force people to be unjustly uprooted. While this study focuses primarily on refugees, it also encourages participants to learn how people are uprooted in other ways and apply what is learned to all people.
When we root ourselves in the stories of our faith, we recognize that the stories of uprooted people are also our stories. We also discover that we are not so different from the people in the Bible or in refugee camps today. We have the same needs and the same yearnings. May this study and its stories of hope, faith and love inspire you and your congregation to find ways of living out God’s call.
One copy is sent to all congregations. Additional copies may be purchased from the Book Room for $12. If purchased along with the children's study, the cost goes down to $10 ($20 for both studies).
