About PWS&D

What is Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D)?

PWS&D Expenses 2008-2009

Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D) is the official development and relief agency of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. The work of PWS&D includes responding to emergency situations, long-term community development with international partners working in health, education, agriculture and income-generation and refugee sponsorship by Canadian congregations. PWS&D is also responsible for educating Canadian Presbyterians about global needs and issues and supports churches and organizations seeking to transform their communities by promoting justice, peace and the integrity of creation. PWS&D supports people and communities in Africa, Asia, Central America and Eastern Europe according to their need and regardless of their faith.

What is the difference between PWS&D and Presbyterians Sharing?

It was decided upon formation, that PWS&D be financially separate from the other agencies of the church. PWS&D receives its funding directly from the Presbyterian constituency across the country, donations from individuals and from congregations, as well as from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). PWS&D does not receive funding from donations to Presbyterians Sharing... Therefore, PWS&D encourages congregations to have a separate line on their donation envelopes for PWS&D.
