Get Miro! (or "How do I download videos off of YouTube?")
Want to download PCConnect-TV episodes to play on your computer?
Miro is a free HD video player. It can play almost any type of video file, and allows you to download PCConnect-TV videos from YouTube so you can play them anytime, anywhere, without the need for an internet connection.
Neat, huh?
Here’s what you need to do:
- Go to www.getmiro.com and download Miro. Install it on your computer like you would any other program.
- Once Miro is installed, open it up. Make sure you are connected to the internet at this point.
- Click the ‘Video Search’ button on the upper left side.
- Look for the search box in the upper right corner. Search for “PCConnect-TV”. This should bring up all PCConnect-TV episodes.
- Click the ‘Download’ button to download the episodes onto your computer. NOTE: They are big! This is because they are in High Definition (HD) format.
- They should download to the ‘Single Items’ folder in your Library.
- Make sure you press the ‘Keep’ button (next to the information about the video) to keep the video on your computer. Miro wants to delete video files unless you specifically tell it not to in order to conserve hard drive space.
Now you can play the PCConnect-TV videos whenever you want, without the need for an internet connection.
Making your life even easier
If you want to stay updated about new PCConnect-TV episodes (and other great PCC videos) through Miro, just do this:
- In Miro, click on the little magnifying glass at the left of the search bar.
- Select 'YouTube User'.
- In the search bar, type "presvideo". This will bring up a list of all videos uploaded to YouTube by The Presbyterian Church in Canada.
- Click the 'Save as Feed' button, located just above the list of video list. This will save this list in your 'Feeds' list in the left-hand column of the Miro window. (Note: You still have to download these videos; this just saves the list for the future.)
- Check back as new videos (like PCConnect episodes) are uploaded to YouTube. They will show up as new items in the 'presvideo' feed.
