St. Andrew's, Ajax, ON hosts workshop for elders, 13 March, 2010
AJAX, ON — St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church will host a workshop for elders from 9am - 2:45pm on Saturday, 13 March 2010.
Uh-oh, I'm an elder! What have I gotten myself into?
Admit it: it's scary! Our 2010 workshop is for elders uneasy with their role. What are elders supposed to do--at session meedings, on home visits, after worship on Sundays, at work, and even in their own homes? How do we pray--with our people, in worship, at session meetings, at home alone? What are elders responsible to the presbytery for as congregational leaders? Heck, what are elders responsible and liable for at law as members of the congregation's "board of directors"?
Elder top dog Roberta Clare, will give us the latest on what it means to be an elder in The Presbyterian Church in Canada today. All the way from Vancouver, Roberta, director of the Elders' Institute, is committed to building upon our traditional form of church governance by meeting the needs and expectations of today's elders, congregations, and communities. This worship is your chance to tap into her wisdom.
Registration is $10 at the door, includes coffee, break, lunch and handouts.
