It is shown over and over that education is a way out of poverty. Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre provides educational opportunities and support to children, youth and adults from low-income families in inner-city Montreal. Over 2,000 clients benefit yearly from early childhood, after school, youth internship, adult development and summer day camp programs. Participants learn how to make healthy choices and discover alternatives to the street culture, drugs and violence that are very present in the community.
- $20 pays for public transit for children and parents in the early childhood program
- $50 provides 2 days of snacks to children in the after school program
- $75 provides five hours of one-on-one tutoring for children
- $100 allows one child to attend summer day camp
- $200 provides French language classes to a newly arrived immigrant woman
