New associate secretary appointed

The Life and Mission Agency Committee has endorsed their Search Committee's recommendation and is now pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Colin Carmichael as Associate Secretary, Communication and Resource Production.

Mr Carmichael is an elder at Central Presbyterian Church, Cambridge and served on the internet advisory committee from 2005-2007. He will commence his work at the National Office on 6 October 2008.

In his professional experience Colin has displayed an understanding of the internet and its changing role in communications, he has an intuitive understanding of social media and its impact on established communications paradigms and has proven skills in web development in a variety of environments and languages. Colin has strong leadership and management skills and experience as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Colin leaves Dundas-based Social Media Group where he was assigned to the Ford Motor Company account, at their world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. There he helped manage all of Ford's social media programs as the organization began to approach this new communications medium. Colin's most recent endeavour was conceiving and developing the new Cambridge Reporter, a local online newspaper. (www.cambridgereporter.ca)
