Africa

Malawi – The Rev. Dr. Blair D. Bertrand

The PCC supports the Rev. Dr. Blair D. Bertrand as he serves as a Malawi Liaison with the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in the Synod of Blantyre.

Based in Ottawa, Ont., Blair serves as full-time mission staff, staying connected with the PCC’s partners in Malawi. Working with the Principal of Zomba Theological College (ZTC), Blair assists with the development of curricula and policies of the College, coaches the Malawian PhD candidate who is a ZTC lecturer, develops the ZTC library and encourages research and academic exchanges. At Theological Education by Extension in Malawi (TEEM), Blair assists with lay training materials, revisions to the Diploma workbooks and development of lay Bible curricula.

Malawi – The Rev. Joel Sherbino

Presbyterians Sharing supports the Rev. Joel Sherbino as he serves as the part-time Malawi Liaison with the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, Blantyre Synod. Joel seeks opportunities for Canadian Presbyterians to engage in Christ’s mission in Malawi.

Asia

Taiwan – The Rev. Dr. Paul McLean

The Rev. Dr. Paul McLean has been serving as a Bible Translation Advisor in partnership with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan and the Bible Society in Taiwan since 2012. Paul is currently supporting twelve teams, one Hakka and eleven indigenous: ‘Amis, Bunun, Cou (Tsou), Paiwan, Pinuyumayan, Sediq-Toda, Tao (on Lanyu Orchid Island), Tayal, plus three small dialects of Ngudradrekai (Maolin, Tona and Wanshan).

Leadership Development Program Recipients

The Leadership Development Program provides educational grants to individuals, at the request of a PCC partner. The goal is to train and upgrade the person’s skills and equip leaders for service in their churches and agencies upon graduation.
