Linda Inglis - Malawi
Linda Inglis is working as Ecumenical Officer with The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian’s Blantyre Synod. She coordinates the visits of visitors (individuals and groups) from various church partnerships around the world. Working with the Synod General Secretary and various Synod Committees, Linda helps to plan programs that will engage visitors effectively in the mission work of the Synod.
Linda is an active volunteer and leader in a program for people with disabilities, called Tidzalerana. She also volunteers, as time permits, at the Orphan and Vulnerable Children Centers of the Blantyre Synod Development Commission.
Linda has seen a growing demand from Church partners, congregations and individuals who want to participate in some of the life and work of the Blantyre Synod. She believes that mission visits help people to witness the wonderful faith and joy of Christians throughout the Synod and to awaken them to the realities faced by everyday people in one of the world’s poorest countries.
Linda’s husband, the Rev. Glenn Inglis, is working with the Blantyre Synod Development Commission (BSDC) as Executive Director. BSDC focuses on livelihood security programs in three of the poorest districts of the south; community based child care programs for children, adolescents and families infected or affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic; an HIV/AIDS program which aims at prevention and home based care; and human rights, gender and advocacy programs. It also provides food and support in times of emergency.
