Rev. Glenn Inglis - Malawi

Glenn was born in Badjeros, a small city south of Collingwood, Ontario. He received a BA in Political Science from the University of Guelph, and an MA in Political Science from Queen’s University. He then went on to Knox College where he received a Masters of Divinity.

Glenn has always been interested in international affairs and issues of social justice. His work history is extremely varied and includes work in Nigeria, Indonesia, Lesotho, and Malawi. Glenn has also served as a minister in a variety of congregations in Canada.

In January of 1997, Glenn worked as Program Director for the Church and Society program in Blantyre Synod, Malawi. The main focus of this work was to encourage the development of a sustainable democratic government in Malawi, and to carry out training in human rights and civic education. He returned home in 2003.

In 2007, the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian’s Blantyre Synod invited Glenn to come back to Malawi. He now works with the Blantyre Synod Development Commission (BSDC) as Executive Director. BSDC focuses on livelihood security programs in three of the poorest districts of the south; community based child care programs for children, adolescents and families infected or affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic; an HIV/AIDS program which aims at prevention and home based care; and human rights, gender and advocacy programs. It also provides food and support in times of emergency.

Glenn is working to strengthen the Synod’s relief and development programs, develop sound management and accounting systems, promote leadership development, and strengthen and renew relations with partners and donors.

Glenn's work is supported through our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing.
