Dr. Richard Allen - Kenya

Dr. Rick Allen is working with the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) as a community health physician. Rick brings a wealth of experience to his primary role of addressing the concerns of the PCEA with respect to HIV and AIDS prevention. He also functions as the acting health coordinator for the PCEA Health Board.

Mike and Debbie Burns

Mike and Debbie Burns - Malawi

The Presbyterian Church in Canada has sent The Rev. Michael Burns and his wife Debbie to serve the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian in Malawi (CCAP). Mike is an associate minister at St. James Church, helping meet the CCAP’s need for qualified ministers. Debbie is looking forward to discerning a position in Malawi that will allow her to use her God-given gifts in ways and areas that fit with what is needed by the people there.

Louise Gamble

Louise Gamble - Taiwan

Louise Gamble is working with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan teaching English Tam Kang High School in Taipei. One of the earliest educational institutions in Taiwan, Tam Kang is a Christian high school seeking to present a strong Christian image to all students. Louise teaches English conversation classes to all grades, and Biblical courses to senior classes.

Mary Gorombey

Mary Gorombey - Hungary

Mary Gorombey is working with the Reformed Church in Hungary to integrate refugee youth into the Hungarian school system. She also teaches Hungarian as a second language and tutors many students outside of class time in various subjects. An important part of her work is helping to change stereotypes and attitudes in a climate that is not favourable to refugees.

The Reverend Glenn Inglis

The Reverend Glenn Inglis - Malawi

Serving as the Executive Director of the Blantyre Synod Development Commission (BSDC), the Reverend Glenn Inglis is working hard to help the commission develop sound management and accounting systems, promote leadership development and strengthen and renewing relations with partners and donors. This helps the commission work to develop livelihoods in three of the poorest districts of the South; care for orphans, vulnerable children, and families affected by the AIDS pandemic and work to prevent the spread of HIV.

Linda Inglis

Linda Inglis - Malawi

As the Ecumenical Officer for Blantyre Synod, Linda Inglis is helping the Blantye Synod host visitors from various church partnerships from around the world. Visitors range from program officers seeking to support the work of the Synod to youth and congregational visitors working alongside the programs for a few weeks at a time. Linda works with the Synod General Secretary and the various committees, to plan programs that will engage the partners effectively in the mission work of the Synod.

Brian Johnston

Brian Johnston - Romania

Brian Johnston is working as an English teacher at the Theological Seminary of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Romania. Besides teaching, Brian directs two choirs made up of students from the seminary. In the words of choir member Emese Nagy: “It is great to feel how, in music, all the boundaries of the different languages and nationalities vanish. There is no more Hungarian-Romanian conflict, there is no ‘me’ and ‘the other’. There is just ‘us’ connected in beautiful harmony.”

Dr. Bill McKelvie and Sheila McKelvie - Pakistan

Presbyterians Sharing provides support for Dr. Bill McKelvie, a physician working in various medical ministries with the Diocese of Hyderabad, Church of Pakistan, since 1988. In 1995, he started at tuberculosis (TB) control program which now operates six centres.

The Reverend Dr. Paul McLean

The Reverend Dr. Paul McLean - Taiwan

The Reverend Dr. Paul McLean is working as a full-time Bible translation consultant in partnership with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan and the Bible Society in Taiwan. His primary responsibility is to work with the Hakka translation team to ensure that draft Hakka translation they currently have accurately reflects the meaning of the original Hebrew Bible.

David Pandy-Szekeres - Ukraine/Hungary/Romania

David Pándy-Szekeres is serving with the Reformed Church of Sub-Carpathian Ukraine (RCCU), a church of ethnic Hungarians in Ukraine. As Supervisor of External Missions, David helps to post RCCU missionaries to designated mission fields and supervises their work.  As Director of Schools, David coordinates four Christian secondary schools that are renowned for their high academic standards and Christian teachings.

Denise Van Wissen

Denise Van Wissen - Nicaragua

Denise Van Wissen is a nutritionist serving as technical advisor at SOYNICA, one of the Presbyterian Church in Canada’s partners in Nicaragua. SOYNICA promotes the right to food security and helps families break the vicious cycle of poverty. Denise works in Managua with another SOYNICA nutritionist, advising on the nutritional aspects of various projects. Among many other things, Denise updates the content of SOYNICA’s educational workshops, keeps SOYNICA staff up-to-date on current nutrition topics and reviews and analyzes periodic reports.
