Church Partners Threatened in Colombia

KAIROS is extremely concerned about death threats made against our colleagues in Colombia working with the highly respected Inter-Congregational Commission for Justice and Peace. The Canadian churches have worked closely with the Inter-Congregational Commission for more than a decade, supporting its courageous denunciation of human rights violations committed by state security forces and paramilitary death squads, as well as its accompaniment of civilian communities under threat. KAIROS urges our members and supporters in Canada to take immediate action by sending messages to Colombian and Canadian government officials, calling for measures to protect the lives of Sister Maritze Trigos, Danilo Rueda, Clemencia Correa and their co-workers at the Inter-Congregational Commission.
