Malawi 2010

Dates:
May 5-22
Cost:
$3000
Application Deadline:
Feb 1 2010
Synopsis:

This summer YIM will be sending a team of young adults including some Synod camp staff to Malawi. The PCC has had a long term relationship with the Presbyterian Church in Malawi and continues to support and be encouraged by that partnership. PWS&D works with the Church of Central Africa to administer programs that fight poverty, hunger, and the effects of a rampant HIV and AIDS problem and Presbyterians Sharing supports Mission Staff who work in the various ministries of the Malawian Church.

As part of this trip you will get to learn about the Malawian context and culture and how faith weaves its way through everyday life. You’ll experience worship in the local language and customs, assist with their programs for children and youth and see firsthand the difference that development programs are making in the lives of people. Participants will also get the chance to share in the day to day goings on through a home stay in congregational member’s homes. All in all, this is an experience that will leave a lasting impact on you.

We are looking for participants with open minds, the ability to work as a team, initiative, hands willing to serve and ears ready to listen. Most of all, we’re looking for participants who are ready to grow in their faith.
