We often take our teeth for granted and yet they are so essential, not only for our good health, but for our self-esteem. Some people’s dental problems are so bad that they are prevented from finding housing or employment.  Lack of identification, social isolation, mental illness and cost can prevent people living on the street from getting the dental care they need. Too many have lost teeth or suffer chronic pain from cavities. Toronto’s Evangel Hall Mission’s Health and Dental Clinic provides a complete range of free dental services to individuals who otherwise would not receive treatment. Two fully equipped dental suites are staffed by volunteer dentists and hygienists who provide care for 35-40 people each month. The needs are even higher. You can help some of Toronto’s most marginalized people gain self-esteem by helping Evangel Hall provide dental services and dentures to people living on the street. It’s a gift that will give people the ability and confidence to overcome social stigmas and integrate back into society.
