The authors call for women in church leadership to recognize the potential of female styles of authority and ministry, and to move beyond hierarchical models with decisions and initiatives 'coming from the top.' In the web model, authority and power are circular and interdependent; the tools are access and dialogue, and the characteristics are flexibility and resilience. Backing up the how and why could work, detailed practical steps are given for how to work with laity and other congregational groups to achieve a transformation in the way churches organize for ministry.
