Book Description
Barbara Brown Taylor, voted one of the twelve most effective preachers in the English language by Baylor University, addresses two concerns about the language of sin and salvation. One is the difficulty in speaking words that cause discomfort in mainline churches. And yet abandoning the language does not make the realities it points to go away and we need to know their names. The second point is what we may lose if we forget this vocabulary. It will weaken the language of grace. Unless we have the knowledge of what has been forgiven we cannot feel the impact of forgiveness. Contrary to the prevailing view, Taylor calls sin 'a helpful hopeful word,'; enabling us to move from guilt to grace.
