This book is for people who minister to others.  It focuses on hospital visiting, but it will introduce you to many kinds of helping ministry.  The basic techniques is creative listening.  It applies to visiting hospital patients, the elderly in seniors’ residences or nursing homes, shut-ins in their houses, housebound young mothers, distressed companions in the work force, parents of students, newcomers to a congregation – anyone with whom you intentionally engage in helpful conversation.
