The author believes that growth is natural in a healthy congregation. He notes a change in focus from church building programs to a people-building process. From his evangelical perspective, he believes that all churches are driven by something-tradition, programs, personalities, events or building. Healthy church are driven by purpose. He believes that a healthy church is built around five New Testament purposes that Jesus gave to the church. These are to grow warmer through fellowship, deeper through discipleship, stronger through worship, broader through ministry, and larger through evangelism.
