Book Description

This is a series of pastoral books for children.  They address difficult subjects such as death, divorce and fear in a caring and spiritual manner. The authors bravely tackle the big, difficult to answer questions that children have like what dying means. They also answer questions that don’t always get asked such as, “is it my fault my parents are divorcing.”  Each book begins with “ A Message for Teachers, Parents and other Caring Adults,” which  gives tips on how to support a child going through the subject problem or what symptoms to watch for that are often associated with children dealing with them. Children easily relate to the appealing illustrations by R.E. Alley which show little elves presenting childish emotions. The series over the last couple of years has developed a wide range of subjects, the newest ones being When Bad Things Happen, Bye-Bye Bully, and Right and Wrong and Being Strong. This is an effective way to approach children to support them or to get them to open up about their feelings when they are going through the struggles of growing up.
